Project Overview

The client pursued a site utilization planning engagement for UNC Hospitals, one of North Carolina's leading academic medical systems, in Chapel Hill. The initiative called for a thorough analysis of the hospital campus to define how the site could best accommodate future growth, operational needs, and patient care expansion. The project demanded a clear, strategic vision communicated to a technically sophisticated owner with high expectations for precision and presentation quality. PRESWERX supported the pursuit by developing a full suite of materials, including a proposal, renderings, animations, a film, and presentation coaching for the selection interview.

Client Challenges

The client faced the challenge of translating a complex, multi-layered planning vision into a compelling story for a discerning academic medical owner:

  • Communicating the depth of campus analysis and long-range planning expertise in a format accessible to a non-construction owner audience.

  • Differentiating the team's approach in a competitive selection process for a high-visibility healthcare client.

  • Visualizing site conditions and future development scenarios before any formal design work was complete.

  • Preparing presenters to deliver a cohesive, confident narrative under the pressure of a live selection interview.

Together, these challenges required a pursuit strategy that was precise, visually compelling, and thoroughly rehearsed.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a comprehensive set of pursuit materials tailored to the specifics of the UNC Hospitals site utilization plan opportunity. The team produced a fully formatted proposal that framed the client's qualifications and planning approach for the owner's review committee. Custom renderings and animations brought the proposed site scenarios to life visually, giving the owner a tangible sense of the team's development vision. A pursuit film added narrative depth, placing the engagement within the context of the client's broader healthcare experience. Presentation coaching sessions then prepared the team to deliver their story with clarity and confidence at the live selection interview.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX approached the engagement as a strategic storytelling challenge, building a cohesive narrative that aligned the client's technical expertise with the owner's vision for the future campus:

  • Developed a proposal structure that framed site planning qualifications in the owner's language, focusing on long-term patient care and operational outcomes rather than construction mechanics.

  • Produced renderings and animations that illustrated site utilization scenarios with visual clarity, bridging complex planning concepts for a non-technical owner audience.

  • Led multiple presentation coaching sessions to sharpen the team's delivery, tighten their narrative arc, and build presenter confidence ahead of the interview.

The result was a pursuit package that positioned the client as a clear-eyed strategic partner for the campus's future.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, cohesive pursuit package that elevated every touchpoint of the client's selection presentation:

  • The proposal gave the owner a compelling first impression of the team's qualifications and planning vision, setting a strong foundation for the selection process.

  • Renderings and animations made complex site scenarios immediately understandable, reducing cognitive load for the selection committee and reinforcing the team's credibility.

  • Presentation coaching sharpened the team's delivery and gave each presenter the confidence to field questions with depth and clarity.

The client entered the selection with a polished, unified story and the preparation to deliver it under pressure.
