Project Overview

The Tyrone Middle School campus modernization was a $35.6 million multi-phased transformation for Pinellas County Schools in St. Petersburg, Florida. The project encompassed 90,500 square feet of demolition, 360,000 square feet of site work, and 135,000 square feet of new construction and renovation, phased to keep the campus active throughout. The modernized campus established the Pinellas School District's School of Innovation and Technology, featuring science and technology labs, maker spaces, a performing arts building, a media center, and a central energy plant. The client engaged PRESWERX to produce a film documenting the superintendent's jobsite tour.

Client Challenges

The client needed to document a superintendent's visit to an active construction site in a way that communicated the project's progress and vision to a district leadership audience:

  • Capturing the scope and ambition of a 135,000-square-foot campus transformation during an active, multi-phased construction sequence.

  • Translating a jobsite environment into a clear, compelling narrative about the School of Innovation and Technology taking shape.

  • Producing a polished communications piece that reflected the significance of the project to Pinellas County Schools.

The film had to work as both a record of progress and a story about what the campus was becoming.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX produced a documentary film capturing the superintendent's jobsite tour of the Tyrone Middle School campus modernization. The film documented the construction in progress, including the phased demolition, site work, and new building construction underway across the campus. It conveyed the scope of the transformation and the vision of the finished School of Innovation and Technology, featuring footage of the emerging science and technology labs, maker spaces, performing arts building, and other key program elements. The deliverable was crafted to serve as a professional communications piece for Pinellas County Schools' district leadership and stakeholder community.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the engagement as a stakeholder communications challenge, building a film that connected district leadership to the project's progress and purpose.

  • Structured the film around the superintendent's tour, using the visit as a throughline for revealing the scope and ambition of the campus transformation.

  • Captured the key program elements taking shape to give viewers a clear picture of what the finished School of Innovation and Technology would offer students.

  • Produced the film to a professional standard suited to district leadership communications and broader stakeholder use.

The result was a film that served as both a record of progress and a compelling story about the campus's future.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a polished documentary film suited to the communications needs of a major K-12 campus transformation.

  • The film gave Pinellas County Schools a professional record of the superintendent's jobsite tour, documenting the project's progress at a key point in the construction sequence.

  • By centering the story on the superintendent's visit, the film made the scale of the transformation legible and meaningful to a district leadership audience.

  • The finished piece was ready for immediate use in district communications and stakeholder presentations.

The client received a film that matched the significance of the project to the Pinellas County community.
