Project Overview

The Thomas Hospital 25 Bed Addition was a $40,000,000 hospital expansion in Fairhope, Alabama, developed for Infirmary Health System. The three-story, approximately 63,000 square foot addition was elevated above on-grade parking on the northwest side of the existing campus and connected to the hospital by a new singlestory corridor. The first level housed 25 medical and surgical patient rooms, with two floors of shell space built for future capacity. The project also included a standby generator providing full hospital backup power, all under Alabama Department of Public Health oversight. PRESWERX supported the pursuit with a presentation, coaching, renderings, and animations.

Client Challenges

A hospital addition for a regional health system is a high-trust pursuit: the owner is expanding active patient care infrastructure, and the materials have to reflect that standard. The client faced specific challenges:

  • Communicating a structurally complex program, an elevated addition above parking connected to a live hospital campus, in a way that gave Infirmary Health confidence in the team's approach

  • Visualizing patient room design and clinical character for a facility subject to ADPH oversight

  • Demonstrating the care and coordination required to build immediately adjacent to an operational hospital

Renderings and animations were essential for making a structurally complex program tangible for a healthcare owner.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a selection presentation, renderings, animations, and a coaching program for the client's pursuit with Infirmary Health System. The presentation covered the client's qualifications and approach to a three-story hospital addition elevated above parking, addressing the connector corridor, patient room buildout, shell space construction, and generator installation within an active hospital campus environment subject to ADPH requirements. Renderings and animations visualized the addition's design quality and patient environment, giving the owner a concrete sense of the finished facility. Coaching prepared the team to deliver with confidence and handle questions on the complexity of building adjacent to a live hospital.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX built the pursuit materials around what made this addition distinctive: a structurally complex program with direct patient care implications and active-campus execution requirements.

  • Developed a presentation addressing the elevated structure, connector corridor, patient rooms, shell floors, and generator as a coherent delivery program

  • Produced renderings and animations focused on patient room design and the clinical character of the finished addition

  • Coached the team to speak to Infirmary Health's standards for patient care environments and handle regulatory and operational questions with confidence

The materials positioned the client as a team ready for the clinical and construction demands of this expansion.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a presentation, renderings, animations, and coaching calibrated to a regional health system's selection for a complex hospital addition.

  • The presentation covered the full scope, from elevated structure and connector to patient rooms and backup power, in a format suited to a healthcare owner evaluating clinical and construction capability together

  • Renderings and animations gave Infirmary Health a design-forward view of the patient environment

  • Coaching prepared the team to deliver with the clinical fluency and precision the program demanded

The client entered the selection as a well-prepared team with materials that matched the complexity and stakes of the project.
