The seminar option provides
an economical approach for smaller contractors to acquire
the full benefits of Strategic Planning for
Contractors. Generally, local construction
industry associations sponsor this program to provide
their members a convenient method to take advantage of
the program's benefits.
This new program consists of an 8-hour
seminar/workshop.
The seminar portion explains why you need a strategic
plan and its fundamental concepts. The workshop aspect
of program walks attendees through the process of actually
creating their strategic plan. During the program
each attendee will develop his company's mission and
vision statements, company's objectives, company's strategies
and establish the company's priorities. This provides
a quick answer to strategic planning in an easy
to follow format.
While the book provides all the necessary information,
directions and forms many people prefer interactive learning
with the opportunity to ask questions and work on exercises
while getting feedback. This option provides those benefits
in an economical format. Further, the coaching approach
adds urgency and discipline to the process.
The Program
Each attendee will receive a copy of the book Strategic
Planning for Contractors (a $149 retail
value). Further each attendee receives a seminar
workbook that contains copies of all the presentation
slides as well as additional worksheet for all the
exercises.
Prior to the seminar, each attendee will receive a document
to fill in as homework. The homework helps each attendee
focus on his or her primary aim . In essence,
the primary aim is designed to help attendees to better
balance their lives and their businesses. A well-defined
primary aim helps reduce stress and create a business
that is not in conflict with the business owner's personal
life.
While much of the material can be handled in a group
session, the specifics of each business will be different.
In order to address the specific issues, each attendee
is entitled to two hours of private one-on-one coaching
by telephone with Ted Garrison. This private coaching
is designed to address the specific questions and challenges
facing each attendee. In addition, attendees can contact
Ted Garrison by email with specific questions for
up to three months after the seminar.
Each primary attendee (senior attendee from any company)
is encouraged to submit a written strategic plan that
will be evaluated in writing by Garrison Associates.
Attendees will also receive a lunch at the seminar.
Investment
The investment for this program is in the range of $500
to $700 depending on the sponsor's costs of providing
this seminar. Because Garrison Associates wants to encourage
business owners to bring other key people to the seminar,
all attendees from the same company after the primary
attendee are approximately half-price (actual cost depends
on the sponsor's costs). The additional company attendees
will receive the same services that company's primary
attendee receives, except they will not receive the individual
one-on-one coaching. Instead, they can sit in on a conference
call during the primary attendee's phone coaching session.
This actually makes sense, since there is only one company strategic
plan. This approach allows the company team to discuss
the issues in a group session. The additional attendees
are still allowed to send in email questions.
